Yosemite FileKeeper Professional provides transparent and near continuous document protection of laptop and desktop computers. FileKeeper's patent-pending technology protects every document at the instant the document is saved to disk, regardless of where the documents are stored or whether the computer is connected to the external storage device or network.
This innovative approach to protect data means you never need to remember to copy files to another location or launch or schedule a backup. In addition, because the files are protected when they are saved, protected files aremuch more current than files recovered from traditional backups or from "old" copies.
HOW DOES FILEKEEPER WORK?
FileKeeper protects your data using one of two methods: Continuous and Snapshot. Continuous protection is the most common method used and is designed to protect 95% of all data. Files are protected whenever the file is saved to disk eliminating the need for the user to run a backup or manually copy files.
The Snapshot protection method is the second method used by FileKeeper and is designed to protect files not protected by the Continuous protection method. The Snapshot protection method should be used for files that are fairly large in size and usually open most of the day. Typical files like this are email, such as Microsoft Outlook, and small single-file databases such as Microsoft Access. The Snapshot method protects files by taking a "snapshot" or picture of the file periodically (typically once an hour) and copying that snapshot to the Data Vault.
EFFICIENCY
Knowing costs of ownership are very important to everyone, FileKeeper Professional was developed to be extremely efficient. Below is a table that outlines areas of efficiency:
| Storage |
Every time a file is saved, FileKeeper captures and compresses ONLY the changes between file versions. |
| Transfer |
When connected to a Data Vault, FileKeeper transfers the compressed Versions over the network. If files are saved while connected to the Data Vault, the Versions are immediately sent to the Data Vault in real time. |
| Capture Changes on File Save |
Since FileKeeper Professional captures only the changes to a file and ONLY when the file is saved to disk, FileKeeper virtually eliminates the impact to your system. |
FILE OR VERSION RECOVERY
|
File or Version recoveries are simple and easy through FileKeeper Professional's Windows Explorer right-click menus. This innovative approach to file recovery means recoveries are quick and simple allowing you to stay focusedon getting work done.
At a glance, Yosemite FileKeeper Professional enables you to:
- Protect documents every time they are saved -No waiting for backups to launch.
- Recover documents stored after you've suffered an accidental file deletion, a hardware failure or a virus attack
- Transparently and continuously store protected files on storage devices such as USB and network drives
- Protect and recover documents independent of network or safe storage device connectivity

FILEKEEPER PROFESSIONAL MAJOR COMPONENTS
|
Yosemite FileKeeper Professional consists of four major components: The FileKeeper Agent, at least one Protection Policy, a Version Store, and at least one Data Vault.
FileKeeper Agents are analogous to anti-virus agents in that they are always running and monitoring protected documents. The FileKeeper Agent backs up files in real-time, as they are being saved to disk, and in accordance with the data protection and retention policies defined in the FileKeeper Protection Policies.
FileKeeper Protection Policies allow you to define what type of documents you'd like to protect, the method you'd like to use to protect the document (Continuous or Snapshot), how many Versions of a document to keep, and how long to keep documents and Versions after the document has been deleted.
FileKeeper Version Store is a hidden safe storage location, usually on your system's disk, where changes to a document, also known as Versions, and deleted files are stored in a compressed format. As you work with documents, the FileKeeper Agent saves a new Version to the Version Store every time you press Save.

FileKeeper Data Vaults can be any storage device or network drive that supports copying and storing Windows files. The FileKeeper Agent copies Versions or deleted files to the Data Vault for later recovery in the event the Version Store or main system's hard disk drive data is lost. FileKeeper allows any number of Data Vaults to exist and will copy files to each one automatically whenever they are available.
Yosemite FileKeeper Professional eliminates all excuses for putting off protecting your valuable data. FileKeeper provides you with secure, transparent, near-continuous document protection without the complexity of managing backup "jobs" and schedules or ensuring the correct backup tape or CD is labeled and inserted. And when it comes to recovery, it can't get much easier than with FileKeeper's integration with Windows Explorer right-click menus integration and support for widely-used USB storage devices and network drives.
